Competition Rules

1.         a)Arrangement of Fixtures

The Honorary Secretary will arrange a fixture list each year for approval by the Committee and subsequently advise the Annual General Meeting.

 

The Committee shall have the sole right to make changes in any published fixture list as may be deemed necessary from time to time.

 

If a fixture is cancelled or abandoned the Committee will attempt to re-arrange the fixture at a convenient future date. In the event that this is not possible only those fixtures completed will count in the determination of the Order of Merit Winners.

 

Arrangements with Host Clubs

All affiliated Golf Clubs hosting a fixture will ensure the course is available from 07.00 to 15.30 hours or such

other times as notified by the Honorary Secretary.

 

b)When a Club is host to a Competition the Club Secretary may contact the other affiliated Clubs and request courtesy for 8 of their Members. It is emphasised that this is not compulsory and whilst it is hoped that Clubs will honour this arrangement it must be appreciated they may not be able to accommodate requests due to prior commitments.

 

2.         Conditions of Competition

The Committee is responsible in line with the Rules of Golf (Rule 33) for detailing the Conditions of Competition.

 

Players will indicate on their entry form their preference for a starting time and as far, as is possible this time will be allocated. However since this will not of course always he possible a time near to the time asked for will be allocated, but there may be a difference of 45 minutes either way.

 

In the event of postal or other difficulties arising then the Honorary Secretary will advise all Clubs of any alternative arrangement for submitting entries.

 

3.         Players Responsibilities

3.1          Singles Competitions
Where a member entered to play finds that he is unable to do so he will advise his Professional, or the Amateur Representative who is dealing with the team affairs, in order that a substitute player may be entered. Provided this has been done there will be no penalty if a substitute cannot be found and the Honorary Secretary notified.

 

3.2          Foursome / Greensome Competitions
In Foursomes or Greensomes competitions where any one or both members are unable to play, they shall report to their Professional / Amateur Representative as above, but it will be the responsibility of their Professional / Amateur Representative to ensure that their opponents are provided with a marker.

 

 

Prize Presentations

Where a Player is likely to be in the prizes they will be expected to receive their prize personally. Where they are unable to do so they must:

(a)        Leave their apologies with the Honorary Secretary, and

(b)        Nominate another person to receive their prize.

Where no apology is given a prize will not be awarded.

 

4.         Alliance Competitions

The Alliance ‘Season’ will normally commence with the first fixture in early September each year and               run to the end of May the following year. The Alliance will normally organise 16 events throughout the year. These include Opening ‘Season’ Pro-Am, 12 Singles Tournaments, Christmas Pro-Am, Harry Brown Finals, and Alliance Outing.

 

4.1        Single Stablefords

At each Singles Tournament the Best Score of the Day, from the whole field, will be presented with a N.A.P.G.A. Tankard.

 

Any amateur qualifying for a team and individual prize will take the team prize.

 

For the team prize the best four net returns will count in singles, and the best three net returns in

Foursomes / Greensomes.

 

Prizes at each Singles event will be allocated in the following order:

Best Team (Best 4 Scores to count)

Best Individual not in a Winning Team

2nd Best Team (Best 4 Scores to count)

2nd Best Individual not in a Winning Team

Non Team Amateur

 

 

4.2                                Order of Merits

Order of Merits for Professionals, Amateurs and Clubs will be calculated following each Singles Event on the basis of points awarded for scores achieved on the day and run on a cumulative basis.

At the end of the ‘Season’ the following are awarded:

 

Golf Clubs

The Jack Ward & Kelly Scrimshire Shields

 

 

Professional’s / Assistants

The Sylvia & Dave Revill Cup and for Prize Money determined at the Annual General Meeting.

 

 

Amateurs

The Ron & Jean Hulme Cup and for vouchers to be spent in any Professionals shop whose Club is affiliated to the Alliance. The value of the vouchers is determined at the Annual General Meeting.

 

In the event of tie for the Order of Merit Trophies the best score from the final fixture will determine the winner.

 

4.3            Christmas Pro Am

There shall be a Christmas Pro Am event held annually. All Professionals on that day will take a prize instead of cash. The Committee will determine the type of competition.

 

4.4       Harry Brown Trophy

 

The winning Club will hold the Harry Brown Trophy for one year.

 

4.5        Annual Outing

The Alliance shall organise each year an annual outing. Details of this event will be published and notified in advance. All Professionals on that day will take a prize instead of cash.

 

 

5.         Handicap System

 

Where a player in an Alliance fixture returns a score equal to or bettor than the SSS of the Course played, the Secretary shall cause a letter to be sent to that member’s Club advising of the score returned. Where the member has not had his handicap adjusted as a result the Alliance may allocate that member a handicap at the next fixture in line with the ‘CONGU - Standard Scratch Score and Handicapping Scheme 1983’.
